The U.S. Department of Commerce Travel and Tourism
Office said 15.2 million U.S. citizens visited México in 2013. The 2013
number is up from 14.9 million U.S. tourists that visited México in
2012.
The Travel and Tourism Office said that in 2013 of all
international tourists from the U.S. 32 percent traveled to México,
while 21 percent traveled to Canada.
The Banco de México (Banxico), the nation’s central
bank, said that all international visitors to México during the first 10
months of 2013 spent $11 million, 8.6 percent more than in 2012. The
report said that total spending for the year would probably exceed the
historic high that was seen in 2008.
Sectur also stated that there were 19 new airline routes created in 2013, 13 domestic and six international, with a 10.7 percent increase in international flights.
