México’s unemployment one of lowest in OECD

According to the monthly report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), México’s unemployment rate for November 2013, placed it as the third lowest unemployment rate of all OECD member countries.

México’s November unemployment rate of 4.6% was lower than all other countries except South Korean and Japan.

México’s unemployment rate for November was about half of that being experienced by other OECD member countries, which was 7.8% for that month.

The rate of unemployment among Mexican youth (15-24 years), which was 9.6 percent in October 2013, fell to 8.9 percent in November. The unemployment rate for adults (25 years and over) also decreased from 3.8 percent in October to 3.6 in November 2013.

Gender data for México shows that the unemployment rate for women fell to 4.6 percent in November after posting a 5.0 percent rate in October; the men’s unemployment also fell from 4.8% in October to 4.6% in November.

The OECD countries with the highest rate of unemployment in November were: Spain (26.7 percent), Portugal (15.5 percent) and the Slovak Republic (14.0 percent).
