According to Raul Urteaga Trani, general coordinator of International Affairs from SAGARPA, Mexico exported more than 1.23 billion dollars in food products to Japan and China in 2013.
About one billion dollars in food products were exported to Japan thanks to trade agreements with the Asian nation. Meanwhile, exports to China amounted to $230 million dollars thanks to the country’s recent trade liberalization.
Urteaga Trani recalled the strategic plan for agriculture agreed upon by the Ministers of Agriculture from China, Latin America, and the Caribbean at the first Forum of Agricultural Ministers. The plan aims at an increase in cooperation and commercial trade between the countries.
