MEXICO CITY – Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Senate
Coordinator Emilio Gamboa Patrón said on Sunday that foreign investment
levels in Mexico in 2014 will be higher than those seen last year,
thanks to the passage of the energy and telecommunications reforms.
According to Gamboa Patrón, the passage of the energy reform at the
end of 2013 attracted the world’s attention, which he said will lead to
more productive investment and contribute to Mexico’s social and
economic development. He added that the PRI bench in the Senate is
prepared to build on this by passing secondary legislation.
“We are convinced that insisting on the construction of the reforms
is to insist on a fairer country for everyone, which is why, besides
moving forward the proposals sent by the president, we will also respond
to the initiatives that, for the benefit of all people, arise from all
parliamentary groups represented in the Senate,” he said.
Gamboa Patrón went on to say that, by paying close attention to the
legislative agendas of the opposition National Action Party (PAN) and
Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), the PRI will be able to find points
of agreement that will allow congress to advance on the reforms that
Mexico needs.
“We will maintain our view fixed on achieving improved social
inclusion and a more prosperous nation,” he added. “We’re going down the
right path, and even though the benefits will be seen in the medium
term, there are encouraging signs.”
