The Durango-Mazatlán Superhighway, which was
officially opened last Thursday, will position Durango as an attractive
site for tourism and investment, Durango Gov. Jorge Herrera Caldera said
Sunday.
Herrera’s comments were made at a ceremony where Ana María Sánchez
Sánchez was sworn in as president of the National Steering Committee of
the Mexican Association of Female Entrepreneurs (AMMJE). Sánchez, from
Sinaloa, is taking over from Durango’s Alia Lorena Ibarra Ávalos.
Herrera thanked Ibarra for her service as president of the AMMJE
National Steering Committee, adding that under her direction, the AMMJE
was able to raise its international profile and position itself among
the top associations of female entrepreneurs in the world. He said that
he had faith that Sánchez’s experience, abilities and leadership would
meet the association’s expectations for Ibarra’s successor.
“AMMJE brings together and takes advantage of the strength of the
Mexican women who run the small, medium-sized and big businesses that
are the motor of our economy,” Herrera said. “It’s an honor for Durango
that its women promote the entrepreneurial spirit.”
