The Gran Plaza shopping mall celebrates its 22 anniversary today with plans to continue expanding.
Gran Plaza manager, Israel Sandoval, said yesterday that between 2010 and today the mall has expanded 70 percent and parking 400 percent due to investments by national companies such as Sky Gym, Sushi Salads, Photo Folio, Cinépolis, Suburbia, Recórcholis arcade and Telcel.
The icing on the cake, said the manager, is the anticipated opening of the Cimaco department store programmed for next month. Cimaco spent approximately 150 million pesos to remodel the former Fabricas de Francia location, and by opening date expect to offer 220 full-time jobs.
Next on the agenda are plans to expand the food fair in the mall to take over the vacated Multicinemas location.
Sandoval told reporters the shopping mall is comprised of 170 commercial shops and is visited by a record 30,000 shoppers on weekends.
