President of the cruise line association proposed a
professional in-depth study of what Mazatlán and Topolobampo can offer cruise
ship passengers.
At the annual meeting of the Association of Florida and Caribbean cruise ship lines in Cartegena de Indias, Columbia, cruise line company representatives told Sinaloa government officials and Mazatlán hoteliers they would consider returning to the port after checking the new Tourist Corridor, organizing day trips to the Baluarte Bridge on the Mazatlán-Durango highway and using pulmonias for passenger transport providing security is guaranteed for their clients.
According to a press release by the Sinaloa government yesterday Michelle Paige, president of the cruise line association, proposed that Sinaloa Governor Mario López Valdez hire a professional company to provide an in-depth study of what Mazatlán and Topolobampo can offer cruise ship passengers.
The press release quoted Paige as saying the study will point out the strengths and weaknesses of the destinations and as an association, they trust this type of investigation.
She was also quoted as suggesting businesses pay a portion of the study along with the Sinaloa government and tourist service providers, with the end result that cruise lines make a favourable decision based on the detailed information of each of the tourist offerings in the two destinations.
The press release stated Governor López Valdez gave instructions to the Secretary of Tourism to begin the study because, he was quoted as saying, it will be a fundamental tool to make decisions on what has to be done and what has to be resolved so that cruise ships return to Mazatlán with the certainty of security for their passengers.
