Sinaloa Governor and Cabinet Donate One Month Salary to Victims

Sinaloa Governor Mario López Valdez, Secretaries and cabinet members donated one month of their salaries to help families who were victims of Hurricane Manuel, media reported today.

The funds will be deposited in accounts opened for the purpose at Banorte and Banamex. Both institutions have said they will match the donations.

The total amount donated by government officials is approximately one million pesos.

Band Performances in Gran Plaza for Hurricane Victims

Wanting to help Hurricane Manuel victims, Mazatlán performers Carlos Sarabia and Max Peraza have organized a “Bandatón” on Wednesday, September 25th, at the Gran Plaza shopping mall in Mazatlán to begin at 10:00am in front of the gymnasium in the center.

The show has the backing of the Mazatlán Venados baseball club, the Sinaloa Secretary of Tourism and Channel 7.

Those attending the performances are asked to bring beans, tuna, rice, pasta and packaged or tinned food items.

“Dog Whisperer” Donates Dog Food following Hurricane

Culiacán-born César Millán, known as the “Dog Whisperer” whose television series of the same name is known throughout the United States, donated one ton of dog food to be distributed to dog owners who were victims of Hurricane Manuel last week.

According to Millán’s sister who resides in Culiacán and is involved in animal shelters, Millán telephoned her to ask how he could assist and when told the animals are being ignored, set about to send dog food and if possible, medication.

On arrival in Culiacán, the bags of dog food were taken to the Cathedral where a distribution and drop-off center has been organized for victims of the hurricane.
