Panama and Mexico begin negotiations for Free Trade Agreement

Technical missions from Panama and Mexico have reactivated on July the 30th negotiations for a free trade agreement, after more than a decade. The first round will begin negotiations from its baselines and will continue throughout the week.  A representative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama confirmed the meetings and a press release informing the results by the end of the week.

Several issues will be discussed during the first meetings including normative texts of the commercial agreement, including markets, customs regulations and procedures related to origin, technical obstacles for trading and commercial defense.  Other topics will also be discussed such as investment, electronic commerce, trans-frontier commerce, competition policies, telecommunications, intellectual property, and institutional matters will be discussed too.
