WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Janice L. Jacobs hosted a bilateral Consular Dialogue with the Government of Mexico. The Mexican delegation was led by Undersecretary for North American Affairs Sergio Alcocer and Mexican Ambassador to the United States Eduardo Medina Mora.

"The Consular Dialogue highlighted the valuable cultural and economic interaction between our two countries and our deep bilateral ties," according to the US State Department spokesman. "The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries on joint efforts to protect citizens, our shared border, and on the facilitation of legitimate travel."

Discussions were held on consular notification and access obligations, the intercountry adoption process, the effects of potential comprehensive immigration reform on consular services in both countries, sharing best practices for crisis management, and how potential changes in visa reciprocity could benefit business workers and students.
